Well when you woke up,
I could see in your eyes.
A simple despair of confusion comprised.
You said not a word,
but I felt in my heart,
that this would not be a great day in your chart.
And I asked, in a hush, a whisper at best,
oh darling, oh baby, what do you regret?
you said with a sigh, and a petulant face,
"I regret that first date and then all of the rest."
She ran out the door
with her shoes in her hands.
I sat in my bed 'till the door I heard slam.
But I just got dressed,
and I took my dog out.
Life is too short to just sit here and pout.
No regrets, on my bets or at least just not yet,
If you keep moving on, no you won't stop and fret
No regrets, on my bets or at least just not yet.
We'll do what we'll do but our past it is set.
I've made mistakes,
in the choices I've made.
Stayed when I shouldn't, gone and not stayed.
But there is a blessing,
in each foul choice,
A lesson I've learned, and of this I rejoice.
So I ask, when I'm doubting, if it's worth it all.
though I know, in my soul, that it is alright.
When it hurts, when it's broken, it's not done yet.
My heart's strong enough to go fight the good fight.
Each broken heart,
has yet come to a mend
and it's ever stronger when it reaches it's end.
There is a reason, we do what we do.
It's farther beyond me, it's further than you.
So, no regrets, on my bets or at least just not yet,
If you keep moving on, no you won't stop and fret
No regrets, on my bets or at least just not yet.
We'll do what we'll do but our past it is set.
