A Bigger Me

Crossed eyes and a crooked grin,
Selling your soul for a goddam tin.
You speak above those below,
a leading ship with trash in tow.
You say you know what is best,
yet there you sit, our total jest.
You work a role few would take,
Yet many a man you do forsake.
When life cant suit your many a need
From those around you suck and feed.
Sucking dry the common man,
You control us where you think you can.
Brought to me as a model,
You've made it clear you're not to coddle.
Striking through the flesh outside
You hit my thoughts where they hide.
Making me what you want to see
I need to breathe, so let me be.

Roll Tide

Where were you when we rolled some tide?
Staying home while we took that ride.
I think that couch absorbed your ass,
Niceties gone, now just sass.
Every day you'll lose your cool,
that box has clearly made-ya a fool.
A night in the woods, or one on the town,
you welcome us back with a bullshit frown.
Holding the opportunity for something great,
yet you yourself determine your fate.
Destiny is an idea and not a game,
real activity is the key to fame.
You have power, but no power you hold.
At every opportunity you'd rather fold.
I can't make you something you're not,
and maybe this is just food for thought.
Get up and go do something new,
we have life once so here's your cue.
Make mistakes and seize the day,
be the sun and gift your ray.
Make the most of our sacred time,
apathy will be your fatal crime.
